Stephen Statum Death, Obituary – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brother Stephen Statum, who left this world in the early morning hours of October 5th, 2024. A cherished chaplain and dear friend, Brother Steve had been a vital part of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office since 2009. His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts, but we take comfort knowing that he is now at peace, in the arms of our Lord.
A Faithful Servant and Trusted Chaplain
For 15 years, Brother Steve dedicated himself to his role as chaplain for the Appling County Sheriff’s Office. His presence provided spiritual guidance, emotional support, and hope for all who knew him. Whether officers were facing the stress of duty, personal challenges, or times of loss, Brother Steve was always there with a listening ear and comforting words. His deep faith and compassion helped sustain our office, making him not just a colleague but a pillar of strength.
 A Long and Courageous Battle
Brother Steve fought a long and arduous battle against illness, displaying immense courage and resilience throughout. His unwavering faith and determination to carry on were a testament to his character. Even in his suffering, he remained a source of encouragement to those around him, offering prayers and kind words. Although we mourn his passing, we take solace in knowing that he is no longer in pain and has found eternal rest.

As we grieve the loss of Brother Steve, we also ask for prayers and support for his wife and son during this incredibly difficult time.
